The Queensbury restaurant is on the list of restaurants closing this week.
If you love Red Lobster, you're going to need to go further in order to catch your favorites.
The company announces 23 new locations that will be closing, including the Queensbury location at 750 Upper Glen Street in the front of the Queensbury Plaza. The closure will take place by August 31st according to the press release, though the exact date of the Queensbury closure was not detailed in the announcement. (Edit: Locals have noted on Facebook the location has a sign on the door stating they're permanently closed.) Red Lobster, once a top location for seafood favorites, has been in financial turmoil through much of the past decade, amplified once Thai Union took over in 2020.
Mismanagement, rising costs from vendors and suppliers, combined with a failed promotion that resulted in a $11 Million dollar loss for the company, pushed the company into bankruptcy in May. Sources had placed the Queensbury location on an initial list of closures back in June, and now confirmed by the company this week.
The closing of these 23 locations, including the Queensbury Red Lobster, will make 120 closed restaurants this year. After this round of closures, the nearest Red Lobster will now be the location in Colonie, on Wolf Road.
