Coach Carm fired after the worst season in Siena's history.

The Siena Saints have fired the Head Coach of their men's basketball team. Coach Carmen Maciariello, who is a graduate of both Shenendehowa and Siena led the team to their worst season in the programs history with a record of 4-28. His overall record as the teams head coach was 68-72.

While there are still 2 years remaining on his contract with the school, it's unclear if Siena will still owe him those 2 years.

This season was tough to watch as Siena lost 10 games by 20 or more points and 19 games by 10 or more points.

According to the Times Union, Maciariello was given a vote of confidence by the Athletic Director of the school and Maciariello was very confident that he would be back next season.

Maciariello had received a vote of confidence from athletic director John D'Argenio in February. Maciariello at the time expressed confidence he would return ("Why would I not be back?") before the home finale.

The Saints saw a big drop off in success from the beginning of Coach Carm's first 2 years where they won back to back MAAC regular season titles. Thanks to COVID the 2020 MAAC Tournament and NCAA tournaments were cancelled. The Saints were never able to get back to their winning ways especially after losing several key players to the transfer portal. Dating back to last season, Maciariello lost 34 of his last 38 games as The Saints Head Coach.
