Kevin Monahan Sentenced on 2nd Degree Murder Conviction

In a very sad story that is local, the sentence in the Kevin Monahan trial was handed down today. Monahan was found guilty of 2nd degree murder in the shooting death of 20 year old Kaylin Gillis according to Spectrum News 1 . Monahan received a sentence of 25 years to life. Gillis was a 2021 graduate of Schuylerville High School. The shooting occurred at Monahan's residence in Washington County. The story has gained national attention from major networks as seen in this story from CNN in which Washington County Judge Adam Michelini was quoted as saying "You just don't get it". Monahan's defense team has filed an intent to appeal.
